crosfields school didn’t want to state their values, they wanted to show them.
THE CHALLENGE
- The school’s core values — Kindness, Commitment, Ambition, Integrity and Growth — needed to feel real and lived, not aspirational or corporate
- Stating values on a page wasn’t enough; they needed to be heard directly from the pupils and staff who embody them
- The film had to resonate equally with prospective families exploring the school and current families already part of it
- Everything needed to be captured in a single shoot day, requiring careful planning and a tightly structured schedule
OUR APPROACH
With a single shoot day to work with, we structured the schedule to make the most of the time available. The morning was dedicated to on-camera interviews, giving each contributor a focused slot to speak to their value in their own words. The afternoon was reserved for capturing the b-roll footage that would accompany the interviews in the edit.
The morning sessions brought together a mix of pupils and key members of staff — including the headteacher — each speaking directly to camera about what Kindness, Commitment, Ambition, Integrity and Growth mean to them personally, and how those values show up in everyday life at Crosfields. Each contributor was given one or two lines, keeping the interviews sharp and purposeful rather than lengthy. The afternoon b-roll session captured the life of the school to provide visual context for everything being said in the interviews.
In post-production, the interviews and b-roll were cut together and edited to a music track, with colour grading applied throughout to give the film a consistent, polished look. Opening and closing titles and graphics were added to frame the film cleanly and ensure it sits well within the school’s wider brand.
