OVERVIEW

howe green house school didn’t
need more words on a page,
they needed people to feel it.

THE CHALLENGE

  • The homepage needed to make an immediate impression, capturing the warmth and energy of the school from the very first second
  • Four separate videos were required — a hero banner and three values-specific montages — each with its own identity but feeling part of a coherent whole
  • Each values video had to visually represent a specific theme: Self Discovery, Igniting Curiosity and Working Together
  • The brief called for something dynamic and montage-driven, autoplaying to draw visitors in without requiring any interaction
  • Nothing could feel generic — the footage had to feel genuinely true to who Howe Green House School are

OUR APPROACH

With four separate videos to deliver and a clear values framework to work within, pre-production was carefully structured. We put together a detailed timetable, blocking the shoot days into 30-minute slots to cover each subject and area of the school. When planning the shots with the client, we built in activities and lessons that would naturally align with the three core values we were working to capture visually.

Filming took place across two days on site. We captured a wide variety of scenes across the school — from the methane bubble experiment, where methane gas is bubbled into soapy water to create a flammable foam that, when ignited, produces a dramatic fireball, to a visiting karate club whose energy translated brilliantly on camera. Willow, the school’s therapy dog, featured naturally in some of the footage, adding to the warm community feel that runs through the finished videos. Drone footage was incorporated into the edit, giving the homepage banner a sense of scale and setting that grounds the school in its surroundings. One of the standout creative decisions was opening the main banner with shots of children arriving during the morning golden hour — the quality of light giving the film a distinctive, inviting look that sets the tone immediately. Slow motion footage was woven throughout, giving the edit texture and allowing quieter, more intimate moments to sit alongside the more dynamic sequences.

In post-production, the edit required careful curation across four separate videos, each with its own identity whilst feeling part of a coherent whole. The three values montages were built around specific footage chosen to reflect each theme precisely — rather than repurposing the same clips across all three, each video was constructed from scenes that genuinely illustrate what that value looks like day to day at Howe Green House School. With no voiceover or music, the visuals carry the full weight of the storytelling, making the quality of the edit and the thoughtfulness of the shot selection all the more important

WHAT WE DELIVERED

1 × Homepage Hero Banner (looping montage, autoplays on page load) — featuring the golden hour opening sequence and drone footage

3 × Values Montage Videos (looping, autoplays on scroll), each tied to one of the school’s three core values:

  • Self Discovery: nursery pupils exploring with magnifying glasses, a young child painting, water play in beakers, a junior student playing the violin
  • Igniting Curiosity: pupils watching the science flame experiment, an adult reading to children in the nursery, children building towers with blocks
  • Working Together: pupils building a den together, junior students working in pairs, a drama performance on the school stage, pupils receiving awards in assembly
THE FILMS

four films, one school,
values you can see.

Each of the four videos serves a distinct purpose, but together they form a single, cohesive impression of life at Howe Green House School. The hero banner draws visitors in from the first second — golden hour light, drone-captured grounds, and the energy of a school day already underway. The three values montages give that first impression depth: footage chosen not to illustrate the idea of curiosity or community, but to show what those things actually look like in this school, with these children. No voiceover. No music. Just the school speaking for itself.

THE OUTCOME

curiosity, community and
self-discovery, now impossible to miss.

Howe Green House School now has a homepage that immediately communicates who they are — not through words, but through the faces, moments and everyday life of the school itself. The autoplaying banner draws visitors in from the first second, whilst the three values videos give the school’s ethos a visual language that prospective families can connect with before they’ve read a single line of copy. The videos work together as a suite — each one purposeful and distinct, but all contributing to a single, coherent impression of a school where curiosity, community and personal growth are genuinely lived values.
